About Our Local Health District
Our Vision: “Together, Achieving Better Health”
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is responsible for providing community health and hospital care for people living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.
The Local Health District consists of both urban and semi-rural areas, covering almost 9,179 square kilometres and an estimated resident population of almost 350,000 people. The Dharug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri people are acknowledged as the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land in our District.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District will work with its local community and partners to deliver safe and high quality health services, which provide value for money and the best health outcomes for the population.
We are committed to adopting an integrated approach to our three key goals that operate simultaneously and seamlessly:
- Addressing inequalities and localities for Population Health
- Enhancing the Patient Experience through access to safe, quality clinical services
- Living within our means through exemplary Service and Financial Performance that makes the best use of funding.
Our strategic vision is to achieve better health for our community by working in partnership to both improve the quality of existing health services and engage in adopting new models of care. In doing so we are committed to improving the safety and quality of services and enhancing our performance culture.
