About Us

We look after a growing population of more than 380,000 people across the Penrith, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Lithgow local government areas, providing world-class and innovative health care through our hospitals and other health services:

  • Nepean Hospital, a tertiary referral hospital and teaching hospital of The University of Sydney (Penrith)
  • Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital (Katoomba)
  • Springwood Hospital
  • Lithgow Hospital
  • Hawkesbury District Health Service (Windsor) through a public/private partnership with St John of God Health Care.

Our staff deliver high quality care in our Community Health Centres across the region, providing vital services both at home and in the Centres to people of all ages, from birth and child development to chronic and complex conditions.

Oral Health, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol, Population Health and Public Health services are also provided at multiple locations across the District, and we are home to Portland Tabulam Health Service which includes a residential aged care facility.

Our community

The Darug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri people are the traditional owners of the land in the District and we are deeply committed to partnering with our Aboriginal community to close the gap in life expectancy, health and wellbeing.

By 2036, our diverse population will have grown to more than 529,400 residents. Bold initiatives in the region such as the new international airport, Western Sydney Aerotropolis and Sydney Science Park will bring new opportunities and generational change.

To meet the future demand, we’re growing. A $1 billion redevelopment of Nepean Hospital and community-based services will see a new 14 storey clinical tower open in 2022. With an expanded Emergency Department, 12 new operating rooms, 18 birth suites, a larger neonatal intensive care unit, more than 200 overnight beds, and new community health facilities. Planning of Stage 2 is also well advanced with construction to begin in 2022.
