Building blocks for a new childcare centre

29 Aug 2019

The start of construction for a new Somerset Cottage childcare centre on the Nepean Hospital campus has officially begun as the first sod was turned at the centre’s new site.

NBMLHD Chief Executive Kay Hyman, District Board Chair Peter Collins, Board Members, Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres MP and centre staff and children, gathered to celebrate the milestone.

Peter Collins says the brighter, better childcare centre is part of a bigger program to create a fully integrated health campus like no other in NSW.

The new Somerset Cottage’s design has been carefully considered, with staff and parents of the centre providing important input during the planning process.

The purpose-built centre, which will be located beside Tresillian, will provide 68 childcare spaces and services, the same as the current centre.

During the construction period, childcare services will operate as normal until the new centre opens in mid-2020.
