Temporary access changes at Blue Mountains Hospital
14 Oct 2019
On your next visit to Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital you may notice temporary changes to how you access some areas inside the Hospital.
Until mid-December 2019 essential maintenance of the Hospital’s electrical infrastructure will require small areas of the building to be temporarily closed and have the power turned off for periods of up to 24 hours.
Signposted detours inside the building will also be put in place on some days.
The scheduled power outages will not affect key areas including: the emergency department, operating theatres, maternity and children’s ward, swing ward, dental clinic, mental health facility, pharmacy and cafe.
The first major works will occur from 7pm Wednesday 16 October to 6am Thursday 17 October.
The Old Entrance (Memorial entrance) and adjacent outside laneway will be closed and detours in place in the Hospital’s main corridor during this time.
The Main Entrance (near emergency) will remain open as usual. Over the next two months the project will replace more than a dozen electrical distribution boards.
To safely replace a board the power must be disconnected to all lights, switches and power points connected to that board.
This means for everyone’s safety those areas affected will be temporarily closed to both staff and the public while the board is being replaced. If you have appointments at the Hospital during October, November and December please follow all safety signs and directions from staff during your visit.
Our staff will be happy to provide directions should need help finding your way.
We apologise for the disruption these essential works may cause and appreciate your patience.
