Video captures our Year in Review

26 Nov 2018

Innovations in patient care, refurbished emergency departments and new services are among the achievements highlighted in the 2017-2018 Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Year in Review video.

NBMLHD Chief Executive Kay Hyman says the District’s drive for innovation and excellence in service delivery continues to be displayed by staff.

“I’d like to commend and thank staff for their remarkable achievements and continued dedication to providing quality healthcare for our community,” says Mrs Hyman.

Staff-led innovations and research projects have received national and state awards this year, including a potentially life-saving diagnostic test that has received a US patent and a program that empowers patients to engage with their care teams.

Also in 2017-2018, the $576 million Stage 1 Nepean Redevelopment commenced and funding for Stage 2 was announced, bringing the investment in the Nepean Hospital Redevelopment to $1 billion.

“In anticipation of our new ‘home’, we’ve already started work on improving the patient experience now with interim works,” says Mrs Hyman.

Refurbishments in the emergency departments at Blue Mountains and Nepean Hospitals have helped staff introduce new models of care to keep our patients safe and deliver care more quickly, along with improved waiting areas to bring greater comfort to patients and their families.

The District has partnered with region’s major healthcare providers, education institutions and Penrith City Council to create ‘The Quarter’ health precinct to attract world class medical researchers, educators and innovators to the region and create 6,000 additional jobs.
