10 Feb 2020
If you're cleaning up after floods or major rain events, please remember to wear boots, gloves and eye protection and wash your hands thoroughly.
Avoid entering water which may contain dangerous germs from overflowing sewers or nasty chemicals from backyard sheds or nearby industrial areas.
Other dangers in your home may include contaminated food and medicines, unsafe electrical appliances, and damaged structures.
Also watch out for snakes, spiders and other animals which may have taken refuge in your house from the storm.
Mosquitos and other biting insects can also become a problem after heavy rain.
