Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is increasing testing for COVID-19, particularly around areas where there is some evidence of community transmission.

There has been evidence of some community transmission of COVID-19 in the local Penrith area.

We are encouraging people with symptoms who live, work or have been active in the Penrith LGA (Local Government Area) to be tested for COVID-19. Symptoms include fever and/or flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat or shortness of breath.

By finding those cases early and identifying appropriate isolation and quarantining of close contacts, we can help prevent onward transmission in the community.

COVID-19 screening clinics are at Nepean, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals. You can find more information and opening times here.

Everyone can play a part in helping us contain the spread of COVID-19 by washing hands with soap and water often, using hand sanitiser, coughing and sneezing into your elbow or disposable tissue, and maintaining social distance of more than 1.5 metres.

People who are unwell should stay at home at all times, except for the purposes of seeking health care.
