Launch of NBMLHD-developed Breastfeeding How-To app
08 May 2020
Local mothers and support people will now be able to access helpful breastfeeding information anytime, anywhere, thanks to the new Breastfeeding How-To app created by NBMLHD Women and Children’s Health.
The app features over 70 educational videos and links to helpful resources and supports in the community. It is available for download now for Apple (link accessible from iPhone) and Android phones.
“Mothers are often unable to attend breastfeeding classes. They miss out on important education that could help them successfully meet their infant feeding goals. We thought that an app could help because they could access the information in their own time,” says Jeni Stevens, Clinical Midwifery Consultant – Infant Feeding and Project Lead.
“Especially at the moment, people are seeking alternative ways to access important information. We hope that this app will empower women to make their own choice when it comes to infant feeding and help them along the way if they choose to breastfeed.”
The Breastfeeding How-To app was funded by a Strategy Reserve Innovation Grant through NSW Health Ministry and will make it easier for our clients to access breastfeeding information.
