Aboriginal artists sought for Nepean Cancer Care Centre artwork

Local Aboriginal artists with connections to the Darug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri nations are invited to submit sample artwork to be considered for a Nepean Cancer Care Centre art project.

One artist will be selected to produce an individual art piece for use within the Centre to help create a more positive, welcoming and culturally appropriate environment for patients, carers and visitors.

Application process

When preparing their application artists are asked to provide their current contact details and the following information:

  • A written statement outlining your art practice to date and interest in the Nepean Cancer Care Centre project (max 300 words).
  • A digital copy of an artwork that will represent a person’s cancer journey.
  • A paragraph describing the story behind the artwork.

The selected artist will be responsible for covering all costs associated with supplying their artwork.

An artist fee of $1000 will be offered to the selected artist for supply of the final artwork.

No fees are payable to the artists for submission of their expression of interest.

Applicants are welcome to arrange a visit to the Centre to assist in the application process.

Selection process

Artists’ expression of interests will be reviewed by the Nepean Cancer Care Centre’s Multicultural and Aboriginal Health Working Group. A graphic designer will use this artwork for application to interior walls throughout the Centre. All artists will be notified via email of the outcome of their application, with the selection panel’s decision being final.
