First look at new Nepean Hospital tower

21 Nov 2018

The new Nepean Hospital is another step closer with the unveiling of the schematic design and 3D animation of the Stage 1 tower.

Schematic design is when we start to see what the new building will look like – inside and out.

NBMLHD Chief Executive Kay Hyman says at 14 storeys the tower will be one of the tallest buildings in Penrith and is part of the $576 million Stage 1 Nepean Redevelopment project.

“This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for our community and our dedicated staff - and I know everyone at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is thrilled to be involved,” says Mrs Hyman.

“While we celebrate the design of our new Stage 1 building today, what we’re most excited about is the opportunity to design innovative, new models of care in purpose-built facilities that enable the use of new technologies, clinical research and practice that doesn’t just improve our ability to deliver health care, but also improves people lives and enhances the liveability of our region.”

Nepean Hospital General Manager Brett Williams says construction of the new hospital tower will start in early 2019 and is scheduled for completion in 2021.

“At Nepean we are all working very hard with our colleagues in Health Infrastructure to ensure the new hospital provides the best environment and clinical services to meet the health needs of our growing population,” says Mr Williams.
