Residents across the Greater Penrith and Blue Mountains region are set to greatly benefit from the $1 billion Nepean Hospital Redevelopment with Stage 2 concept designs revealed.
The designs show how services will seamlessly connect with the larger campus, particularly the new hospital tower.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) Board Chair, The Hon. Peter Collins AM QC says the scope of Stage 2 will help to meet the health demands of a growing region.
“I’ve taken great pleasure watching our hospital redevelopment grow from a plan on a page to a magnificent tower in the sky,” says Mr Collins.
“The cranes that hover over the Nepean Hospital campus are a sign that significant change is here. Stage 2 of the Redevelopment will continue our promise to transform health services for our community.”
Stage 2 of the Nepean Hospital Redevelopment will include:
- A new Intensive Care Unit
- An In-centre Renal Dialysis Unit
- Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine services
- Staff Education and Training Facilities
- Community Health services
- Additional beds
- A new Front of House.
The Stage 2 concept reveal coincides with the announcement that the Stage 1 Tower has reached its highest point in construction.
NBMLHD Chief Executive, Kay Hyman describes the achievement as exciting and the result of years of hard work and planning from our dedicated staff.
“The new clinical tower will help our staff deliver the best patient experience there is to offer well into the future,” says Mrs Hyman.
Construction is steadily progressing on Stage 1 with completion of the project expected by the end of 2021.
