Donation good as gold

09 Feb 2021

The Children’s Ward and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nepean Hospital have a sparkle in their eye following a donation from local business, York Jewellers.

As part of their ‘Penrith Community Giveback’ month, the jewellery store donated $21 dollars from each sale during January, leading to a generous donation of almost $10,000.

The Ely family have owned and run the Penrith business for over 45 years and believe in creating a culture of positive change through philanthropy.

“We’re really excited about this, it’s our way of saying thank you. Giving back to the local community is its very own gift and we hope it inspires others to do the same,” says Robert Ely.

The donation was recently presented to representatives of Nepean Hospital including General Manager, Brett Williams, Children’s Ward Nurse Unit Manager, Lisa Kelly and Head of Paediatrics, Dr Habib Bhurawala.

“We are extremely grateful for the support and generosity of York Jewellers and the community. We really do appreciate this donation in what has been a difficult 12 months for everyone,” says Lisa.

The donated funds will go towards the purchase of equipment on the wish lists of both wards.
