First babies of the new decade

16 Jan 2020

In the early hours of New Year’s Day Nepean Hospital welcomed the first baby of the new decade to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Baby Piper weighed 3,680grams, with parents Raegan and Sean delighted with the new addition to their family.

The first delivery at Blue Mountains Hospital occurred the following day when staff greeted baby Ila to the world.

Nepean Hospital Birth Unit Nurse Unit Manager, Kerry Tosswill says giving birth is an exciting time for any family.

“When a baby is born it is such an important moment in people’s lives and real a privilege to witness the love that is shared amongst families as they begin a new chapter in their lives,” says Ms Tosswill.

On average the Local Health District delivers around 5000 babies each year.
