Hearts on their sleeves

27 Feb 2019

Community members rolled up their sleeves at a recent charity event to show their support for Nepean Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, raising almost $40,000.

The ‘Boards4Bubs’ fundraiser, hosted by popular Penrith tattoo parlour, Crossbones Gallery, achieved the impressive donation by inking over 190 tattoos, auctioning 80 designer skateboards and raffling donated gifts from local businesses.

Crossbones Gallery owner, Michael Vincent and Brenton Eldridge, declared the donation a no brainer and that it was only natural that they support the local hospital.

“Many of my colleagues, myself included, grew up locally and have deep connections to the area. The fundraiser was about giving back to the community we grew up in.

“We’ve had a fair amount of people who’ve come into the store and have needed the support of the NICU at Nepean. This donation was one way we could support them,” says Michael.

Nepean Hospital General Manager, Brett Williams described the fundraiser as a tremendous community effort.

“It’s great to see local businesses jump on board and support an event like this. The donation will allow the NICU to continue to deliver the best quality services and care for families most in need.”
