Toy drive delivers Christmas cheer
19 Dec 2018
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Kingswood High School have delivered a swag of new toys to inpatients at Nepean Hospital’s children’s ward this week.
The generous donation came about as part of Western Sydney University’s Pathways to Dreaming program, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from 33 Western Sydney high schools implement community oriented group projects.
“This year students decided they wanted to give back to the community by running a toy drive”, says Project Officer Jacqueline Cornforth.
“It’s very selfless,” says Ms Cornforth. “They wanted to do something for the kids”.
Aboriginal Liaison Officer at Nepean Hospital, Bernadette Hands, helped coordinate the delivery the toys to the kids ward.
“It’s such a great initiative” says Ms Hands, “Hopefully it’s something that can continue annually”.
