Nepean Cardiac Services within the Nepean Hospital, boasts state of the art medical equipment and caters for both inpatient and outpatient procedures, tests and programs. Within the Cardiology department there are five different arms of service provided at Nepean Hospital and within the local health district:
- Outpatient appointments including doctors consults, clinic visits and tests.
- Catheterisation Laboratory Procedures
- Cardiac Investigations Unit
- Cardiac inpatients ward 5B
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Service
- Heart Failure Service
- Cardiac Research Project
Nepean Cardiology includes a Coronary Care Unit, Cardiology Ward, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Cardiac Investigations Unit. It also includes the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, Heart Failure Service and the Cardiac Research Trials and programs which includes the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic.
Nepean Cardiology is targeting those in the Nepean Blue Mountains area who require the services stated above. Cardiovascular issues can occur at any age, we will see anyone over the age of 18yrs.
Geographical Area Served
The Nepean Cardiac Service within Nepean Hospital serve the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District with includes Penrith and surrounding suburbs, the Blue Mountains including Lithgow, Portland and the Hawkesbury area.
Please contact 4734 1719 to make an appointment. Appointments are required to see the Specialists, Nurses or Technologists.
Referrals are required from a general practitioner to make an appointment and must be presented on the day of the appointment.
Fees are not applicable if the patients has a correct referral and a valid Australian Medicare card or a DVA card. Overseas visitors patients may be charged depending on each situation and the MBA fees will apply.
Cardiovascular issues are closely related to other comorbidities which could be diabetes, respiratory diseases, renal failure, musculoskeletal conditions and many more. When addressing the Cardiovascular issues at hand please inform the Cardiologist if you are having other issues so you can be referred to the appropriate Specialist.
