Drug and Alcohol Services

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Drug and Alcohol services are available at a number of Hospitals, Clinics and Community Health Centres.

Education and Training Service

The Education and Training Service (ETS) is committed to providing a coordinated, comprehensive education and training service for staff across NBMLHD. The service strategically examines knowledge and skill requirements within their current clinical and non-clinical workforce and develops, implements and evaluates relevant education programs.


Maternity services are provided by the Women's and Children's Health Network. Our service spreads across three of the local health district hospitals including Blue Mountains, Lithgow and Nepean Hospitals.

Mental Health Services

Mental Health Services are available throught the NBMLHD.

Nepean Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management

The Department of Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management works across key areas including: operating theatres, day surgery, outpatient clinics, medical imaging, cardiac catheterisation lab, endoscopy suite, labour ward and acute pain service. When required, anaesthetists are called to the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department for help in difficult airway management.

Nepean Cardiac Services

Nepean Cardiac Services within the Nepean Hospital, boasts state of the art medical equipment and caters for both inpatient and outpatient procedures, tests and programs.

Nuclear Medicine and PET

Nuclear Medicine & PET provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for outpatients and admitted inpatients.


The responsibilities of the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery is to develop, monitor and report all aspects of professional activities provided by nurses and midwives employed within the boundaries of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. By overseeing the standards of professional clinical practices, the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery is able to influence quality care of patients and their carers/family, to optimise health outcome.

Outpatient Clinic Service Directory

The information provided in this outpatient clinic service directory is aimed at making it easier for everyone to understand what services are available and how to access them.

Please note that a valid referral from your GP is needed for you to be booked into these clinics. In general the referral needs to be renewed annually.


The Department of Psychiatry provides teaching and research. Its main research focus is on the psychopathology of anxiety disorders.

Population Health is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within our local community.

Public Health

The role of the Public Health Unit is to identify and prevent or minimise public health risks to the community: these risks may be from infectious or communicable diseases, or from exposure to harmful chemicals or to radiation.

On the Public Health webpages you will find information on infectious diseases, immunisation, environmental health, emergency management, and current health alerts for the District.


REACH is a communication process that can help if you, your family and/or carer are worried about a change in your condition while you are in hospital.

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) has a well established national and international research program.

Sexual Health / HIV Clinics

Nepean and Blue Mountains Sexual Health Clinics provide FREE and confidential testing, treatment and management of sexually transmissible infections (STI) and HIV/AIDs. We provide a professional, caring and non-judgemental service which enables people to look after their own sexual health.

Telehealth and Technology Centre

The Telehealth and Technology Centre aims to enable equitable access to quality care through the use of Telehealth and virtual care solutions. We are committed to supporting staff, patients, consumers, carers and other providers in adopting new virtual ways to deliver and access healthcare.
